We capped off the weekend celebrating Earth Day with a trash cleanup at Loch Raven Reservoir.
Loch Raven Reservoir is the base of our drinking water. The watershed eventually pours into the Chesapeake Bay. We try to collect as much trash as we can before it makes it there.

In partnership with Trap N Chill, we presented a Future Earth virtual music festival to raise awareness on Earth Day weekend. Presented with Above & Below, Artist Republik, and Sweet Sounds Collective, we featured over 20 of the hottest rising artists of 2021, such as Snavs, PLS&TY, Shizz Lo, and THRPY.
We collectively raised over $1K for underground artists, with a portion directed towards Greenpeace USA.

VIRTUAL FUTURE
We were more than grateful to team up with Trap N Chill to present a Virtual Future. This was our biggest festival yet, filled with like-minded artists who have pushed the electronic sounds of future bass and trap music.
We raised over $1K in donations that went directly to the artists, with a portion directed towards our cleanup efforts.

Thanks to those who came out in support of PLASTIC FREE JULY! We collected a total of 22 pounds of trash in such a short period of time, it’s crazy to think how much of an impact we have and can have if we continuously work for a cleaner environment. We always have such a positive experience working with OCMD Surfrider!

What a day to celebrate Earth Day! We were amazed by the turnout for our 2nd Annual Earth Day Cleanup at Paint Branch Stream. Shouts to UMD’s Sustainability Cooperative on Campus (SCoop) for working with us to help restore the local waterways around this area!

Project Clean Stream was such an amazing event, thanks again to everyone who came out! We now have adopted three streams in the Gunpowder, thanks to the GVC. We had a great time working with the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy and are super excited for what’s next.

We had a great time sweeping at our very first OBX pop-up beach cleanup at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head! Special thanks to everyone who came out to spend their Saturday morning on the beach with us, despite the cold weather! We were able to collect tons of straws, cigarette butts, plastic bags, and more!

Delmarva ESA Surf Contest

We had an amazing time attending the surf contest and supporting the Ocean City, Maryland Surfrider Chapter. We helped spread the word about reducing single-use plastic as the Surfrider Chapter gave out free water and gatorade to refill. The goal was to bring a reusable bottle in order to stop the abundance of single-use plastic on the beach. We were also there to support all of the surfers who came out to spread love for our oceans!

Happy World Oceans Day! We marched in Washington, DC to protect what we love. We marched for healthier marine ecosystems, to stop offshore drilling, to end plastic pollution, and to support coastal communities. Let’s rise before the oceans do!
